Homeowner’s Seasonal Checklist – Summer

Homeowner’s Seasonal Checklist – Summer

Homeowner’s Seasonal Checklist – Summer

Jun 9, 2015 | Uncategorized |

Check your foundation for cracks and evidence of pests – look up under the bottom course of siding with a light or mirror to see if there are any signs of termites of beetles sneaking unseen.  Close any cracks with some hydraulic cement.

Check basement windows and crawlspace screens for damage – its easier to fix these now than in October!

Examine exterior paint on trim and at edges of house – plan for painting this summer if required. – Got flaking?  Get a metal brush and a 5 way tool from your paint store and knock off the flakes.  Then either repaint the area or just do a touch up to seal the wood until you can do a more thorough job.

Clean your outside cooking appliances – grills, cooktops, ovens, etc – use a wad of aluminum foil and throw it away when you’re done!  Here are some other ideas on Pinterest.

Replace your furnace filter – and write the size and model number of the screen on the removable door of the furnace with a permanent marker

Clean the screen on your window and doors – use a brush NOT a hose!  The water will allow dust to settle in the little openings of the screen making it even dirtier.

Keeping up with these seasonal tasks will let you enjoy the rest of the summer!
